Learning Investment could be FUN through ‘Wongamania’

Kampar, July 17 - Learning investment no longer is a boring lesson for students nowadays as it could be learnt through a simple card game!

Bursa Young Investment Club of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman has introduced this financial board game twice as to show and recommend to UTAR students that investment could be fun to learn.
The Wongamania Workshop 2.0 that was held on last Sunday has attracted 30 students to show their interest in investment.
Wongamania is a financial educational board game that emulates economic scenarios and situations in the games whereby participants have to accumulate their wealth as fast as possible at different economic cycle with strategies on hand.
Organising chairman, Then Weng Kian (finance student) said students are bored with investment talk.
“Previously, we organised several investment talk to student but most of the students said that those talks are more or less the same like their lecture class.
“Therefore we try to organise the event in a different way in order to let the investment program become more interesting, that’s why we chose Wongamania,” he said.

There will be 4-5 players in a group; first player who obtained 3 trust funds wins the game.
This card game activity would let you to understand and realize the stages of economic cycles and financial loopholes in the financial system; participants have to be aware of the “economic disaster”, “political changes” and “natural disaster” while investing in the game.
Students showed their great interest as the event goes on.
“I learned to determine the performance of assets in different economic cycle; this game is beneficial for me as I'm a finance student, it is awesome to learn something in an interesting way instead of reading notes in the lecture class!” said Gooi Ying Ying (21).
“I'm not a finance student but this game is able to make me understand more about the investment process; I will bring my friends come along if there's another workshop will be organise on next semester,"said Ang Siew Hong (19).
