A former tin mining hub, the town of Kampar is located in the Kinta Valley in central Perak. Surrounded by hills, there are over 100 former tin mining ponds in the Kampar district that are abundant with marine life and hence attract anglers from all over the country.
Aside from the lakes, Kampar has also grown to become a major tourist hub. This is seen in the dramatic rise in the number of hotels in the area which has increased to as many as 21 today. As such, plenty of beautiful, picturesque and scenic parks have been set up for the enjoyment of both locals and tourists alike.
One of the most popular and well-maintained parks is the West Lake Garden located at the opposite end of the West Lake bordering the higher learning institutions of University Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College.
